PENGARUH ADDITIVE TATAL KAYU TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIK DAN KEKUATAN PASIR CO2 PROCESS

Abstract

CO2 process sand is kind of molding sand that bonded by waterglass and used CO2 gas as the hardening. CO2 process sand is a system of molding sand old method which is still used until now because it is easy and practical. However the permeability and collapsibility is low. Generally, the solution of it is within give the import liquid breakdown-agent. Beside liquid breakdown-agent, dust wood can be used to repair the permeability and collapsibility. This research was conducted to find out the effect from composition of wood dust to CO2 process sand. The variation from composition was added into molding sand system of CO2 process sand and then made the sample for mechanical properties testing; consisting of compression, shear, tensile, transverse and permeability. The result form this research show that permeability and collapsibility increased but compression, shear, tensile, transverse test are decreased. Addition from wood dust that optimum is 0.5%.
