Abstract

Medium size Press tool is one ofthe tools in the production of small industries which plays an important role in producing bulk products (mass-product) with high quality. But in the manufacturing process, problems often a rise when assembly, setup and maintenance, which are demand sexact axis position between upper part (punch) and bottom part (dies) in accordance with the desired clearance. So far, there are still many small industries which produces press tool including Polman-Bandung who still use the convention always so it is hard to get exact axis position that cause long time consumption in assembly process and setup and less safe for the operator. The methodology use din solving this problem is by do ing a study design method VDI 2222 followed by an analysis performed on the assembly process which is done by Polman-Bandung studentat the time ofthe press tool assembly manually competency test. The purpose of this study was to accelerate the process of assembly and ensure exact axis position between punch and dies accurately when setup. With result an tool assembly process press tool this then the next assembly processis easy, safe for operators and faster until it reaches efficiency ~ 50 percent compared with the manual way.
