Pengaruh Proses Spray Quenching Terhadap Nilai Kekerasan Dan Laju Keausan Material Creusabro 8000 Dan Aisi 4140 Pada Komponen Bucket Teeth

Abstract

The aims of this research are (1) to find out the effect of distance on spray quenching process towards the hardness value and wear resistance for Bucket Teeth Components, and (2) to decided the best materials for Bucket Teeth by spray quenching process. This research use quantitative methods. It was carried out through following phases (1) Study literature, (2) Experiment design, (3) Sample preparation, (4) Heat Treatment and quenching process (4) Mechanical Testing then (5)Analyze and Result. The distance of spray quenching will be devided into three variated. Because, it is the most easily process to controlling the heat transfer on specimen. The examinations to determine the effect for this research are hardness test and following by jet erosion test to determine wear resistance. The result of this experiment shows that distance of spray quenching process are influential to hardness number and wear resistance of materials. The examination of AISI 4140 material which is proceed by hardening method under austenite temperature (<870oC) and then following by spray quenching method (2.5 m distance) results 34 HRC and wear resistance rate 0.00332 g/minute. Besides the microstructure of it which content upper bainite, martensite and ferrite is the most suitable material to use in bucket teeth product.
